Should you write when you’re not feeling it?
This is one of those questions that gets to the heart of what our Health and Writing blog is all about.
Writing because you think you have to meet a self-imposed deadline or quota of words seems contradictory to the notion that writing is best if it is free and unfettered.
The deal is that writing is one of the best things to remedy the Blahs, and if you neglect it when you feel down and out, you are depriving yourself of the boost in energy and enjoyment writing brings.
It reminds me of the days when I was a runner. I had to grind through the first few minutes some days to get into the rhythm of the run. But at the end of the run, I felt great and invigorated.
I suppose the question of the day has to do with the issue of whether we trust writing to do the job of lifting our spirits. If we give it a chance, if we don’t flake, it will reward us.
I know this much is true.
